Orange County, CA – (May 10, 2021) Mission Viejo Councilman and retired Marine Corps Colonel Greg Raths today announced his campaign for the Orange County Board of Supervisors, District 5. The seat will be vacated by termed out Supervisor Lisa Bartlett in 2022. Raths was elected to the Mission Viejo City Council in 2014 and 2018, serving as the city’s Mayor, Mayor Pro Tempore, and Councilman.
Raths was a jet fighter pilot in the US Marine Corps for 30 years, flying 75 missions in the F/A-18 Hornet in 3 combat operations, the most notable, Operation Desert Storm in 1991. He was later appointed to serve as the Chief of Staff of the White House Military Office, working directly for the President of the United States from 1996 to 1999.
“Serving our country and now my community has been the greatest reward I have enjoyed,” Raths said. I am not a career politician, just a humble servant who loves to address the needs of our community. I look forward to continue to serve as an Orange County Supervisor”
The 5th District includes the southern portion of Orange County with Mission Viejo being the largest city in the district.
